FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
Astra is a Spanish weapons manufacturer that was founded in 1908 and eventually closed in 1997.
In their more recent years they produced some economically priced but good quality and reliable revolver models that were replicas of Colt, Ruger or Smith & Wesson.
The Astra 680 is a short-barreled, double-action/single-action revolver manufactured until 1996.
It was available chambered in .22 LR, .22 Winchester Magnum, .32 S&W Long or .38 Special, and various finishes including standard steel, polished steel and blued steel.
It was intended primarily for civilian use, but also served as a backup weapon or as a concealed carry weapon by Spanish gendarmes.
What is notable about this firearm is that it is one of the very few, small-frame, snub-nose revolvers chambered in .38 Special that have a 6 shot capacity (most other similar sized models only have 5 shot capacities).
This gun is in very good to excellent used condition. It is mechanically good and functional.
The overall finish is still excellent with only a single, tiny, light spot of surface rust on the frame near the hammer, and some extremely fine wear along the left edge of the top strap and edge of the muzzle.
There are also some small spots of light rust on cylinder release latch, which can easily be removed.
The original wooden grips are virtually still perfect with only the smallest of light scuff marks on the bottom edge of one panel, which is basically unnoticeable.
The cylinder lockup is still excellent.
It comes in its original Styrofoam box with the original manual.
This firearm is suitable for home self defense, as well as everyday, concealed carry.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports*:
