FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:

The Colt Single Action Army, also known as the SAA, Model P, Peacemaker and Model 1873, is a 6-shot, single-action revolver designed in 1872 by Colt’s Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company—today’s Colt’s Manufacturing Company—and is still in production to this day.

The Colt SAA “Peacemaker” revolver is a famous piece of Americana.
It has been offered in over 30 different calibers and various barrel lengths and finishes, and its overall appearance has remained consistent since 1873.
The revolver was popular with ranchers, lawmen, and outlaws alike, but as of the early 21st century, models are mostly bought by collectors and re-enactors.
Its design has influenced the production of numerous other models from other companies.

The first Colt Model 1873 was designed for the U.S. government service revolver trials of 1872 and was adopted as the standard military service revolver until 1892.
These models issued to the U.S. Cavalry were chambered in .45 Colt and had 7.5″ barrels.

The Frontier Scout is a scaled down version of this famous revolver, chambered for .22 LR, and released in 1957.
These revolvers are known to be very well machined and finished as well as have excellent accuracy.
This is partly due to the fact that the same machinery used for the top-of-the-line Colt Python was used to machine and polish the barrels of the Scout.

FIREARM CONDITION:

This gun is in excellent used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
There is only some light wear around the muzzle and some extremely light wear along the front edges of the cylinder and trigger guard, as well as a few, tiny, light scratch marks along the ejector rod shroud (really nothing significant).
The original Colt plastic grips are still in excellent condition.
This particular revolver was manufactured in 1959.

FIREARM SUITABILITY:

The firearm is suitable to be used for:

  • Target shooting
  • Plinking

The revolver may also have some collectors value.
