FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
The Remington Model 550 is a direct blowback, semi-automatic rifle, first introduced in 1941 and discontinued (later models) in 1971.
It is chambered in .22 LR but is also capable of firing .22 Long and .22 Short, which is not very common for .22 semi-automatic rifles.
It is fed from a tubular magazines that lies underneath the 24″ barrel, with the rounds loaded into the tube from a slot near the front.
It includes fixed, iron sights, a manual safety lever and sling swivels.
This gun is in very good used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
The finish on the barrel and receiver is still very good with only very few patches of light surface rust that can easily be removed.
The wooden stock is also in very good condition with only a few, very light dings.
The rifle is a great, fun gun for simple target shooting and plinking at the range, and is also an excellent tool for teaching rifle shooting and fundamentals of basic marksmanship to young or beginner shooters.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports:
- PIN SHOOTING – .22 Rimfire Rifle matches only
- STEEL CHALLENGE
This firearm is also suitable for vermin hunting.
