Item Description

FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:

The Smith & Wesson Model 36 is a compact, 5-shot revolver chambered in .38 Special, and is one of Smith & Wesson’s most successful and well-known handguns.
It was their first revolver designed around the compact J-frame, and was developed purely to compete against the popular Colt Detective Special snub-nose revolver.

First introduced in 1950, it was originally named the “Chief Special” to appeal to law enforcement markets, but was later changed to Model 36 in 1957.
Modern variants of the Model 36 are still in production today and remain one of the most popular and successful snub-nose revolvers in history.

FIREARM CONDITION:

This gun is in good used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
There is some light wear around the muzzle and along the edges of the top strap, the front of trigger guard and the top of the back-strap.
There is also some very light wear to the front edges of the cylinder, and a few light scratches in places on the sides of the cylinder.
The original wooden grips are still very good, with only some extremely light scratches on the under-side.
The cylinder lock-up is still good.
Comes in its original cardboard box.

FIREARM SUITABILITY:

This firearm is suitable for home self defense, as well as every day concealed carry.

This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports*:

  • IDPA – BUG division
  • SADPA MPDS – Revolver (REV) division
  • ICORE – Classic division
  • PIN SHOOTING – Stock gun & Stock revolver
  • STEEL CHALLENGE

*Even though this revolver could technically be used for these sports, the 5 shot capacity would greatly disadvantage the shooter. This revolver is better suited for self defense.
