FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
The Smith & Wesson Model 60 is a 5-shot revolver that is chambered in .38 Special., and was the first regular production all stainless steel revolver made.
It was a development of the Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chief’s Special and has been in production since 1965 till the present.
At the time of its launch the Model 65’s stainless steel production proved so popular that there was a waiting list at gun shops for up to six months to purchase one.
The Model 65 is available with either 2.125″, 3″ or 5″ barrel lengths, and fixed or adjustable sights.
With the exception of the Model 60-1, the vast majority of first-generation Model 60 revolvers were produced with fixed sights; modern production revolver are typically offered with either a fixed or adjustable rear sight and a fixed sight in front.
Despite the reduction in effective range due to the short barrel and consequently reduced sight radius, the 2″ barrel version is one of the preferred backup and concealed carry weapons for law enforcement officers and civilians alike to this day.
This gun is in excellent used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
The overall condition of the stainless steel finish is still excellent with no discernible marks.
It comes with aftermarket black, rubber grips that are in perfect condition, but also includes the original wooden grips, also still in perfect condition.
A green, fiber-optic front sight has been fitted.
Comes in original cardboard box and includes all original manuals and cleaning tools.
This firearm is suitable for home self defense, as well as every day concealed carry and back-up gun use.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports*:
- IDPA – BUG division
- ICORE – Classic division
- PIN SHOOTING – Stock gun & Stock revolver
- STEEL CHALLENGE
*Even though this revolver could technically be used for these sports, the 5 shot capacity would greatly disadvantage the shooter. This revolver is better suited for self defense.
