FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
J. G. Anschütz GmbH & Co. KG is a sporting firearms manufacturer based in Ulm, Germany, that makes rimfire and centerfire rifles as well as air rifles and air pistols for target and competition shooting, as well as hunting.
The company had its humble beginnings more than 150 years ago when its founder, Johann Heinrich Gottlieb Anschütz, planned to manufacture Flobert and pocket pistols and shotguns.
The business continued and grew with his two sons and later grandsons, and by 1935 the company had 500 employees.
However in 1945 after the Second World War, the company was dismantled.
In 1950 J. G. Anschütz GmbH was refounded with just 7 employees, focused mainly on repairing firearms ad producing air pistols.
Today the company is headed by Johan Anschütz, the fifth generation of his family name, and produces a modern line of rifles as well as shooting accessories.
This Anschütz rifle is a Model 1450, as indicated by the markings on the barrel.
It is a magazine fed, bolt-action rifle chambered in .22 LR.
It is set in a polished wooden stock with checkering around the pistol grip and the forend.
The top of the receiver has grooves to mount scope rings, and includes an adjustable tangent rear sight, and shrouded front post.
It has a 19″ barrel and includes sling swivels.
This gun is in good to very good, used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
The overall blued finish is very good, with no visible signs of wear except for some very light wear on the bolt, bolt handle and trigger guard.
There are also some small spots of extremely light surface rust in places, like on the sights, but nothing significant and can be easily removed.
The stock is still (mostly) very good with no scratches or dents, and just some areas where the varnish is a little dull, BUT there is unfortunately a small chip to the bottom, rear of the butt and plastic butt plate.
The rifle is a great, fun gun for simple target shooting and plinking at the range, and is also an excellent tool for teaching rifle shooting and fundamentals of basic marksmanship to young or beginner shooters.
This firearm is also suitable for vermin hunting.
