FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
The Browning Pump Shotgun, commonly known as the BPS is a 12-guage shotgun with a solid reputation for long-lasting durability and an uncanny ability to keep on working in spite of what Mother Nature does to stop it.
Designed by John Moses Browning in 1915, the design was sold to other firearm manufacturers like Remington and Ithaca who produced it under their own model names (i.e. Ithaca Model 37).
It was only in more recent times that the Browning Arms Company developed and released the BPS based on the original Browning design.
This shotgun has rigid dual machined steel action bars, a forged and machined steel receiver, a convenient top-tang safety and bottom ejection for ambidextrous operation.
I.e. empty, fired cases also eject from the bottom loading port.
This design is intended to keep dirt and water out of the action in adverse weather.
This gun is in very good used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
There are only very few light scratches on the receiver finish, while the finish on the barrel and magazine tube are still perfect and free of wear.
The wooden stock is also still in very good condition.
This firearm is very well suited for home self-defense.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports:
- SADPA DMG
- MPDS – Manual Action Shotgun (MAS) division
- IPSC Manual Shotgun – however a longer magazine tube would be preferable.
- 3GN – however a longer magazine tube would be preferable.
- PIN SHOOTING – Shotgun event
- CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING*
*Over-and-under shotguns are generally better suited to clay pigeon shooting
It is also suitable for wing-shooting and bird hunting, although longer barreled shotguns are preferable.
