FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
The Glock is a series of polymer-framed, short recoil-operated, locked-breech semi-automatic pistols designed and produced by Austrian manufacturer Glock Ges.m.b.H.
It entered Austrian military and police service by 1982 after it was the top performer in reliability and safety tests.
The Glock 23 is the .40 S&W version of the ‘compact’ Glock 19.
It is dimensionally identical to the Glock 19, but is slightly heavier and uses a modified slide and frame.
It has a standard magazine capacity of 13 rounds, and will accept all, larger framed, double-stack, .40 S&W magazines, like the model 22 (standard size), 24 (long slide) and 35 (competition).
The Model 23C, or ‘Compensated Model’, incorporates a ported barrel with corresponding slide ports, to help mitigate felt recoil and muzzle flip by venting some of the propellant gasses upwards through the ports.
Third Generation Glocks include thumb rests on both sides of the frame and finger grooves on the front strap.
Larger frame models also included the addition of an accessory rail.
Later third-generation models additionally featured a modified extractor that serves as a loaded chamber indicator, and the locking block was enlarged, along with the addition of an extra cross pin to aid the distribution of bolt thrust forces exerted by the locking block.
This gun is in excellent to like new, used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
The overall slide finish is still almost perfect, with virtually no wear except for some extremely light wear around the slide ports.
The polymer frame is still in perfect condition.
It appears to have barely ever been used.
It comes in its original plastic box and includes the loading tool.
Includes 2 x 13 round magazines.
This firearm is suitable for home self-defense and is also perfect for every day concealed carry.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports:*
- SADPA MPDS – Service Pistol Limited (SP10) division
- STEEL CHALLENGE
*While this pistol may be suitable to be used for many different sport shooting disciplines, the inclusion of a ported barrel may exclude it from many standard divisions as well as use in league or national level matches.
Best to consult the rules of the sport you wish to participate in to confirm its standing on ported barrels.
