Item Description

J. P. Sauer & Sohn is a manufacturer of firearms and machinery founded in 1751 and is the oldest firearms manufacturer still active in Germany.
The products of this company are frequently referred to as Sauer.
They are well known for developing and producing a series of advanced pocket pistols in the early 1900s, culminating in the famous Sauer 38H during the Second World War.

They are also well known for their famous partnership with the company SIG in 1976 to develop and distribute the now famous and successful range of SIG Sauer semi-automatic pistols, starting with the SIG Sauer P220.
Today the continue to produce high-end hunting rifles and shotguns.

The Sauer 202 is a lightweight, bolt-action rifle manufactured between 1993 and 2015.
This rifle has a modular barrel-change system that allows one to change between calibers easily, and was offered in a large selection of calibers.
Separate magnum receivers and barrels were made which were not interchangeable with non-magnum calibers.
The rifle has a steel receiver and all the steel parts are Ilaflon coated which is proprietary to JP Sauer for rust resistance and a pleasing appearance.
It is fitted into a Grade-2 Walnut Monte Carlo stock that includes a cheek piece and has a contrasting forearm tip and pistol grip cap.
It has a set trigger and the safety lever is located on the stock wrist mechanism, which  blocks the trigger, sear and cocking piece.

The .30-06 Springfield cartridge, 7.62×63mm in metric notation and called “.30 Gov’t ’06” by Winchester, was introduced to the United States Army in 1906 and later standardized; it remained in use until the late-1970s.
The .30-06 remained the U.S. Army’s primary rifle and machine gun cartridge for nearly 50 years before being replaced by the 7.62×51mm NATO (commercial .308 Winchester) and 5.56×45mm NATO (commercial .223 Remington), both of which remain in current U.S. and NATO service.
It remains a very popular sporting round, with ammunition produced by all major manufacturers.
