Item Description

FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:

The Stoeger Model 8000 Cougar is an alloy frame, double-action/single-action, semi-automatic pistol, originally launched and produced by Beretta in 1994 (also as the Model 8000 Cougar) but now marketed and produced by Stoeger Industries, a subsidiary of Beretta based in Turkey.
The Stoeger Cougar is manufactured using Beretta tooling, and is still marketed on the Beretta website.

It was designed to be a more compact pistol than the duty-sized Beretta 92F/S, for easier carry and concealment and use by police forces and civilian self-defense.
Originally developed for the .40 S&W cartridge it was later also manufactured for other calibers, such as 9mmP, .357 SIG and .45 ACP.
Today the Cougar is still available in those same caliber options, except for .357 SIG.

These pistols use a relatively rare rotating barrel locking system, in which the barrel rotates on recoil to unlock itself from the slide.
The basic version of the Cougar pistol is the F model, with a double-action/single-action trigger with exposed hammer, and ambidextrous safety/decocker levers located on the slide.
This particular pistol is an FT Model, featuring a tactical accessory rail (T) and chambered in 9mmP.
