FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
The Taurus PT100 is a semi-automatic, double-action/single-action pistol, chambered in .40 S&W, manufactured by Brazilian company Forjas Taurus SA.
It is based on the Taurus PT92, which was a Brazilian made copy of the 9mmP Beretta 92.
In 1974, a large contract for the Beretta 92 was issued by the Brazilian army, for which Beretta set up a factory in São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
This factory was later sold to the Brazilian firearm manufacturer Taurus in 1980, after the contract had expired.
Shortly thereafter, Taurus began using the original Beretta machinery to make their own pistols based on the Beretta 92 design.
The Taurus PT92 and PT100 differ from current Beretta 92F/S models in that they have frame mounted safety/decocking levers, as apposed to slide mounted ones.
On some Taurus models there may also be some slight, mainly aesthetic differences, but despite these changes the Taurus PT92 and PT100 still retains many of the design elements from the original Beretta 92.
Another difference (at least with this particular PT100) is that the safety can be engaged with the hammer still cocked, without dropping the hammer (allowing the pistol to be carried “cocked-and-locked”), as apposed to Beretta where the safety lever automatically drops the hammer.
This pistol is in fair to good, used condition (more towards the good side). It is mechanically sound and functional.
It appears to have been refinished, with a product like Cerakote, in a semi-matte black shade.
There is some very light wear around the muzzle and front edges of the slide.
There is also some light wear to the edges of the trigger guard and beaver tail.
It has black, aftermarket Hogue rubber grip panels that are in good condition.
This pistol includes 7 x 11 round magazines and 1 x 13 round magazine.
This firearm is suitable for home self-defense, but is possibly a little too large for every-day, concealed carry, unless for a large-framed person.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports:
- IDPA – SSP division and ESP division
- SADPA MPDS – Service Pistol Limited (SP10)
- IPSC – Stock Gun (Major)
- PIN SHOOTING – Stock gun and Pin gun
- STEEL CHALLENGE
*All the extra magazines supplied with this pistol make it especially appealing for sports shooting.
