FIREARM HISTORY AND FEATURES:
The ADP is a South African designed and manufactured semi-automatic pistol that was produced between 1991 and 2004.
It is a compact, light, polymer-framed handgun designed primarily as a concealed carry self-defense pistol as well as a supplementary backup gun for police and military personnel.
It utilizes an innovative and fairly uncommon gas-delayed blowback system to help manage the recoil of its 9mmP ammunition in such a light frame, making it quite interesting from a technological point of view. This system also allows it to have a fixed barrel for improved accuracy.
The ADP was released in four models over its production life, each with various design changes and improvements, namely the Mk I, Mk IA, Mk IIB and Mk III. The first two variants were manufactured by the company Aserma, while the later models were manufactured by Truvelo Armoury.
This gun is in good to very good used condition. It is mechanically sound and functional.
The original finish is still very good with only extremely light wear on the edges of the of slide, and some very light surface rust on top of the slide from storage (easily removed).
The right side of the slide also has some extremely light scratches in places, which are really almost indiscernible.
The polymer frame is still perfect.
This firearm is suitable for home self defense and is perfect for every-day, concealed carry.
This firearm is suitable for use in the following sports:
- IDPA – CCP division and SSP division
- SADPA MPDS – Service Pistol Limited (SP10), Defensive Pistol (DP)
- PIN SHOOTING – Stock gun
- STEEL CHALLENGE
The ADP was briefly manufactured overseas by the Italian company Tanfoglio as the P-25, as well as by Heritage Arms in the USA as the Heritage Stealth, and also by Wilson Combat from 2006 – 2009 as the ADP.
